Hands-on with the Acer Liquid Jade Primo Windows Phone - lawsonlegreasing

For Windows Telephone set fans, the most wonderful thing about the Acer Limpid Jade Primo is the very fact that you receive achoice. And if you'ray looking a phone that simply feels a teensy more luxurious than the Lumia 950 series from Microsoft, Genus Acer may bear the phone for you.

Acer's Liquid Jade Primo reminds Maine of an Android phone—and that's not a counterfeit thing. Microsoft's design aesthetic is what I would call fairly prosaic and straightforward: away from the wild colors of the Lumias of yesteryear, Microsoft has aimed for a productivity approach.

The Liquid Jade Primo has a brushed metal aesthetic with tiny ridges along the hindermost, enough to probably keep you from worrying that it will slip free. It feels solid but rich in the hand. I wouldn't birdsong the Lumia 950 a small phone past any extend, but the 5.5-inch 1080p display the Fatigue Primo offers pushes past it and into small phablet territory.

Acer executives told me they're consciously avoiding stepping on Microsoft's toes—not to avoid angering Microsoft, but simply to offer a diverse product than what Microsoft does. And that includes the price, besides—Acer plans to offer the Liquid Jade Best, plus its display dock, for less than the $649 Microsoft charges for an unlocked Lumia 950 XL. (Acer testament sell just the phone for fifty-fifty less, naturally. And it has already announced that the price testament be 569 euro, at to the lowest degree in the EMEA region.)

The Liquid Chromatic Primo display dock holds the phone.

And Ohio yes, did I mention that Acer has its own Continuum dock, too? And IT's a nice one, letting the phone slip into the uppermost, like a pocket. In the demo we saw, the dock related to to the phone via USB-C and and so to a USB-C enabled display, as well, although HDMI-out is besides included.

Acer's Liquid Wear upon Primo also features a duo of SIM card slots for international use, combined of which can be configured equally an SD circuit board slot for surplus storage. I didn't consume adequate metre to try and ginger snap any representative pictures with the sound, but the 24-megapixel rear photographic camera tops the Lumia 950's 20-megapixel camera, at the least in writing. Megapixels aren't always representative of boilers suit image quality, however, and then the tv camera will remain an unknown until we can obtain nonpareil for testing.

Of course, the Disposable Nag Primo runs Windows 10 Mobile—which, of course, brings with it its own share of issues. In just the few proceedings I had to play with the phone it ad lib rebooted in one case, which hopefully was just an anomaly.

But with HTC apparently continual away from its once auspicious One M8 experiment, Acer's Liquid Jade Primo provides a viable mutually exclusive to Microsoft hardware. It's been a long-staple time coming.

Fudge factor: Acer executives originally told U.S. that Jade Primo plus its dock would be priced less than the $549 Microsoft charges for the Lumia 950. An Acer spokeswoman now says that the "target Mary Leontyne Pric" is $649, or the Leontyne Price Microsoft charges for the Lumia 950XL.
